Learn to read music for piano without sheet, using MIDI

This video is for those who want to read music and learn songs really accurate (like reading sheet music) but without needing to learn how to read sheet music.

I find a great software that display all the events recorded inside an MIDI sequence through a virtual keyboard. This way you can simply look at the notes in your computer screen and repeat them in your piano.

Each channel can be view it separately or in a single roll.

I learn to play many songs with this program; classical, rock, pop, ballad… You can learn complex songs even if you don’t know anything about sheet music.

The best software I find to display the notes is Sweet Sixteen MIDI Sequencer (by Roni Music). Although Synthesia is great too but is more like a game than a tool for musicians. To learn more about Synthesia go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZgtPffZw6A or
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2mPdXJsLcc

Download Sweet Sixteen MIDI Sequencer:
http://www.ronimusic.com/sweet_16.htm

If you want to try Synthesia too, go here: http://www.synthesiagame.com/

vanBasco’s Karaoke Player is another software that you may want to try for the same purpose:
http://www.vanbasco.com/

You can find Sweet Sixteen MIDI Sequencer for free in trial version so it will be some limitations and it will popup a continuous reminder to buy the product, but it will work just fine. You can also buy it.

Tips for Sweet Sixteen MIDI Sequencer:
- To move the keyboard in the grid hold down the shift key and use the left/right arrow button.
- To auto-load the custom settings save a file with the name “DEFAULT.SNG”, this file will be automatically loaded every time the program is booted. This way you can import your favourite settings, e.g. MIDI Click Channel, Input Filter, Disable Transpose etc, automatically into the program. “DEFAULT.SNG” must be in the same directory as Sweet Sixteen.

3rd – BOTTOM-LEFT: Baritone
4th – BOTTOM-RIGHT: Bass

Piano Sheet Music (key of F) available here: http://store.payloadz.com/str-asp-i.248117-n.Thank_You_For_The_Music_Piano_Transcription_Music_-end-detail.html

‘Thank You For The Music’ (2008 Mama Mia Version) – ABBA -

This is a Professional Backing Track of the Piano / Vocal arrangement of ‘Thank You For The Music’ sung by Amanda Seyfried for the 2008 film Mama Mia!

The Piano backing is a note for note transcription of the one used by Amanda SeyFried on the movie soundtrack.

The accompaniment was made by listening painstakingly for many hours, notating and editing and recording in order to capture the exact notes, rhythms and timings used in this beautiful song.

This is an ideal track for Professional Singers to use as part of their repertiore, aspiring Singers to use when creating Professional demos, or even for ABBA fans wanting to sing along at home to this beautiful song.

———Lyrics——-

I’m nothing special, in fact I’m a bit of a bore
If I tell a joke, youve probably heard it before
But I have a talent, a wonderful thing
’cause everyone listens when I start to sing
I’m so grateful and proud
All I want is to sing it out loud

So I say
Thank you for the music, the songs I’m singing
Thanks for all the joy theyre bringing
Who can live without it? I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me

Mother says I was a dancer before I could walk
She says I began to sing long before I could talk
But I always wonder, how did it all start?
Who found out that nothing can capture a heart
Like a melody can?
Well, whoever it was, I’m a fan

So I say
Thank you for the music, the songs I’m singing
Thanks for all the joy they’re bringing
Who can live without it? I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me

Ive been so lucky, I am the girl with golden hair
I wanna sing it out to everybody
What a joy, what a life, what a chance!

Thank you for the music, the songs I’m singing
Thanks for all the joy they’re bringing
Who can live without it? I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me

So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me
