Learn to read music for piano without sheet, using MIDI
This video is for those who want to read music and learn songs really accurate (like reading sheet music) but without needing to learn how to read sheet music.
I find a great software that display all the events recorded inside an MIDI sequence through a virtual keyboard. This way you can simply look at the notes in your computer screen and repeat them in your piano.
Each channel can be view it separately or in a single roll.
I learn to play many songs with this program; classical, rock, pop, ballad… You can learn complex songs even if you don’t know anything about sheet music.
The best software I find to display the notes is Sweet Sixteen MIDI Sequencer (by Roni Music). Although Synthesia is great too but is more like a game than a tool for musicians. To learn more about Synthesia go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZgtPffZw6A or
Download Sweet Sixteen MIDI Sequencer:
http://www.ronimusic.com/sweet_16.htm
If you want to try Synthesia too, go here: http://www.synthesiagame.com/
vanBasco’s Karaoke Player is another software that you may want to try for the same purpose:
http://www.vanbasco.com/
You can find Sweet Sixteen MIDI Sequencer for free in trial version so it will be some limitations and it will popup a continuous reminder to buy the product, but it will work just fine. You can also buy it.
Tips for Sweet Sixteen MIDI Sequencer:
- To move the keyboard in the grid hold down the shift key and use the left/right arrow button.
- To auto-load the custom settings save a file with the name “DEFAULT.SNG”, this file will be automatically loaded every time the program is booted. This way you can import your favourite settings, e.g. MIDI Click Channel, Input Filter, Disable Transpose etc, automatically into the program. “DEFAULT.SNG” must be in the same directory as Sweet Sixteen.

Piano music composition – The unfinished story
A new original piano music composition by Isisip released in March 2008. The title of it is “The unfinished story”. Just like the music on the album “My music collection”, a lot of thoughts were put into it. This time another story is told by the piano.
Two versions are presented in this video, the piano only version was played a little slower, the two different versions have different feelings.
To learn more about the song, please visit http://www.pianomusicdownload.blogspot.com
(Piano sheet music available for sale on the website)
Hope you like it, some listeners said this music reminds them of the piano music from final fantasy.
Thank you very much for watching!

Remember When It Rained – Piano
This is me playing the piano (well, not so great keyboard) part of Remember When It Rained as found in the official Closer sheet music book… so basically, the song accompaniment and melody in one… yeah.
The mic makes the keyboard sound hollower than it actually is; it’s a bit better in real life, and sorry that there’s an occasional crackling sound; that’s the noise of the mic being bumped against the sheet music it was clipped on to. The volume’s also a tad soft I think. Either way.
I only sometimes play piano as an occasional hobby type thing so yeah, my technique’s probably horrible. Any constructive tips/comments are welcome. Don’t worry, I don’t have any crushable dreams to become a professional piano player or anything like that, far from it.
Rambling aside, I hope somebody out there enjoys it! And in regards to getting sheet music… just buy the book, I had to. It’s probably cheapest from Amazon. I just bought sheet music for Wicked from Amazon, and including postage, it was still cheaper than what the shops here charge. If an Aussie has to fork out $45 for a sheet music book then an American can probably afford it easily. =)
Enjoy, hopefully!

Heart and Soul (piano) – Sheet Music Version STEREO
MP3 of this song can be downloaded at:
http://www.justmyfolder.com/heart.htm
Ever wonder what the sheet music version of this song sounded like? So did I, that’s why I took the time to learn it.
This is the duet version (written for four hands). This is the original version of sheet music as composed by Hoagy Carmichael in the late 1930s (not a modified/arranged/easy version). Note it is rather different then the common version you’ve always heard played in scale C.
As an amateur player, I made every attempt to play this accurately – with no changes to the sheet music on my part. I tried to play all embellishments accurately (accents, crescendos, loudness/softness symbols, etc). In the beginning, I had problems getting the tempo/speed consistent. I finally used a Dr. Beat metronome set to 130bpm to get a consistent tempo on the chord pattern – which should be very accurate. I opted not to play the entire piece twice per the “repeat” symbol near the end.
Obviously, I couldn’t play all four hands at the same time. The chord pattern was recorded into my digital piano’s memory – then the melody was played during the video. The piano is a Yamaha P120.
The sound for this video was recorded directly from the the RCA line output jacks of the piano. Without getting technical, in order to post this with decent stereo sound, a sacrifice in video quality was necessary.
Please do not ask me to send you a copy of the sheet music – it was borrowed and returned to a friend. It is currently available from most of the large on-line sheet music stores, like sheetmusicplus.com (the cover is pictured at the end of the video).
I was not the first to post the sheet music version of Heart & Soul on youtube. That honor goes to a father/son concert video.
