Jaws (comp. John Williams) (piano interpretation)
Cover by Giorgio Rizzarelli.
From the soundtrack of the blockbuster movie “Jaws” (“Lo Squalo” in Italy, I say it for my Italian friends) (1975) directed by Steven Spielberg.
Among the most famous soundtracks composed by the genius of John Williams, this is the first in time and, for me, the most fun to play, especially for its particular and dramatic featuring of piano: an unforgettable theme consisting in just an alternation of 2 or 3 bass notes in ottava (0:13).
Looking closer, however, the theme develops richly on that simple base (with orchestra in the original arrangement), first adding standard chords in unusual menacing way (0:20), then depicting intriguing open-sea waves (0:40ca) and later contrasting with the happy beach people unaware of the danger (1:00).
The sheet is rather simplified respect the CD version, which is of course a synthesis of the movie soundtrack. This interpretation is a compromise between these various versions, with the addition of a couple of personal elements in the philosophy of the piece.
The video received the following YouTube honors:

You may not make any profit from it, and I’m not responsible about any improper use of this video by anyone else.
I believe that this simplified solo-piano interpretation doesn’t damage the author and copyright owner but, oppositely, that it spreads the word about them.
Various people ask me for the sheet music: I suggest them to buy the official sheet music, which is easy to find on usual online stores.

Bella’s Lullaby on flute
ATTENTION: The video that i got the sheet music from was taken down due to a copyright claim from Hal Leonard Corporation (a sheet music company). Since the music was taken down due to a copyright claim, i will not email my copy of the music to anyone. Sorry. I got the music before it was officially released (when you couldn’t buy it yet), but now that it can be bought, just buy the music if you want to play it. It will be no more than about $5 anyway. (edit 11/28/09)
i got the piano sheet music for “Bella’s Lullaby” (the real version) and i decided to play it on my flute. as far as i can tell i’ll be the first flute version of it, so feel free to share this video with friends. comments of any kind are appreciated. :]
edit (about 20 minutes after uploading the video): ok… so this isn’t the first flute version of this song. oh well.
edit 2 (4/25/09): people lately have been telling me to blow faster air to get the high notes out. first, all that would do would make any note that comes out extremely sharp. second, i can get those high notes. at the time i recorded this, i had been playing piccolo right beforehand and i didnt have my flute embouchure right. that’s all. if you really want a re-record of this just for me to prove this, then just ask and i’ll do it (when i find the time).

“Love Is Here” by Tenth Avenue North (Piano cover) with sheet music
Here is the sheet music I wrote down for my arrangement.
http://music-mp3s.webs.com/Love%20Is%20Here.pdf
I made a few changes in it from the way I play it in this video to make it more like the original song.
You know, it was strange, I just sat down at the piano and it was like my hands knew what to do already. I’ve never really had that experience before with any other song I’ve tried to play by ear. I really don’t know what to say about this song, except it pretty much changed my life and the lyrics are very meaningful to me. God must have been thinking of me when he led these guys to write the song.
Congratulations to Tenth Avenue North for winning the best new artist at the Dove awards. I can’t think of anyone who could deserve it more.
P.S. Listen to the original. You need to hear the lyrics

Silent Hill 2 – “True” (w/ new sheet music)
This is my piano arrangement of “True” by Akira Yamaoka from Silent Hill 2. The only thing that’s significantly re-arranged is the string/chorus part in the middle. Other than that, it’s pretty much true to the original.
