Piano Concertino No. 1 Scorpion Fire [sheet music]

I will be uploading sheet music for my arrangements here from now on. Here is my latest arrangement/transcription, which I am also learning on piano: a song with quite a complex history, and too many names.

Download sheet music here: http://sebastianwolff.info/music.php#gamesheets

Officially, it is known as ピアノ協奏曲第1番”蠍火” literally “Piano Concertino No. 1 Scorpion Fire”, although some translations including the LED marquee’s translations reference the name of the song as “Anti-Ares,” a reference to the star Antares, also known as Scorpii, and its red flame in the sky – the origin of the translation and more commonly used name “Scorpion Fire”. It is from Beatmania IIDX 11 IIDXRED (ビートマニア ツーディーエックス, Bītomania Tsūdiekkusu) from “One More Extra Stage,” known as hell.

The artist is Jun Wakita, one of Konami’s in-house composers, whose work is primarily for Beatmania IIDX and Pop’n Music. His alias for this composition is 脇田潤 (Wakida Zyun; “Virkato Wakhmaninov”). The pseudonym should have been a hint of the song’s true age; it’s a pun on the name of Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. “Piano Concerto No. 1 ‘Anti-Ares’” is itself a pastiche of Rachmaninov’s piano concertos.

© 2004. Developed by Konami Computer Entertainment. Published and distributed by KCET as part of the beatmania IIDX & Bemani series for arcade and PlayStation 2.

This is the sheet music for the in-game cut of the song, ピアノ協奏曲第1番”蠍火”(大きな鍵盤と円盤のための), or Piano Concerto #1 “ANTI-ARES” (arrangement for a great keyboard and disc).

    It’s not the best …
It’s not the best notation, but it relies on cross-handed techniques.

    Excellent work… …
Excellent work… although 1:20 (m. 64) onwards looks impossible for one pianist, even Liszt didn’t have hands that large.

Cross-rhythms aren’t exclusive to video games either.. composers like Debussy wrote a lot of things with 8ths in the right hand and triplets in the left… :)

I’m expecting the synthesizer, organs, flutes, drums, and whatever instruments are in this song to emanate from your piano when you play this song for real, on camera. It had better if you’re playing a song this awesome.

    Super geiles …
Super geiles Arrangement! Da hast Du echt viel Arbeit reingesteckt. Wow.

    Really leaves me speechless D:

Would be quite something if you could gather all the parts and put together a small ensemble ;)
