I made a few changes in it from the way I play it in this video to make it more like the original song.

You know, it was strange, I just sat down at the piano and it was like my hands knew what to do already. I’ve never really had that experience before with any other song I’ve tried to play by ear. I really don’t know what to say about this song, except it pretty much changed my life and the lyrics are very meaningful to me. God must have been thinking of me when he led these guys to write the song.

Congratulations to Tenth Avenue North for winning the best new artist at the Dove awards. I can’t think of anyone who could deserve it more.

“One of the most extraordinary pieces I have ever heard…written by the hand of one of the masters…”

Just in case you’re wondering: I wrote this piece at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho not Moscow, Russia. I’ve never been to Russia, but I imagine the winters in Moscow, Idaho are like Russian winters in some ways.

I have been getting emails from teenagers who say that they love classical music and that people think there is something wrong with them for that. Personally, I find classical music fans enthusiastic about music and how music is made, so I am of the opinion that classical music is here to stay – so why not listen to it?

I studied the classical music of many composers while living in New York City in the mid 1990s. I spent hours at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts looking at scores and borrowing recordings.

I do feel that most classical musicians take themselves too seriously, but I can understand how much pressure they are under playing some of the best music ever composed.

One thing I will say about classical music is that it comes from European cultures which were cruel to “non-Western” countries during the time most classical music was written. I don’t like that part of classical music history, but it’s part of classical music.

The other thing I do not like about classical music is how it ignores the tones BETWEEN notes. Cultures in the Middle East, Asia and Africa all use the notes BETWEEN the notes that are on a piano keyboard. The bend, the slides, none of these nuances are available in almost all classical music.

I love all good music, no matter the genre.

if you hear a tapping noise, it’s not a metronome… just a problem with my microphone cus I recorded it using a webcam and a not-so-good microphone.

UPDATE: lol I got a digital camera, so I might rerecord this.

Largest? I’m not too sure but you can check out "Long&Mcquade" close to Ossington and Bloor. They’ve recently expanded their sheetmusic space.

I want to play Meteor Shower by Owl City on the piano for the talent show and need to find sheet music for it. I would also take Fuzzy Blue Lights by Owl City if they have it.

Try Cedarmusic.com. I order music from them. Generally only costs $5 or less. Much of the time one can’t find much online for free due to copyright laws.
